The Original Unit combines elements of Caribbean music, straight-ahead jazz, soul, electronica and free improvisation. David Carnegie (drums), Stefan Walcott (piano) and Neil Newton (bass) started playing together at school and at the Barbados Community College before studying music in the UK. They have led groups and played in various ensembles in the Caribbean, Europe and North America. David led and composed for contemporary jazz group Extrem Measures. Their music is full of drama, spontaneity, compelling narratives and infectious grooves.
