.As a guitarist, singer and songwriter, Dave Alvin has become one of the leading names in American roots music.

After founding The Blasters with his brother in 1979, his diverse musical career has taken him from punk – as lead guitarist in X, and performing on several albums with LA band The Flesh Eaters and punk blues act The Gun Club – to country, with The Knitters as well as in his own more country-and-blues orientated solo work.

Kicking off in 1987 with debut album Romeo’s Escape, Alvin’s solo work saw him skillfully switching from acoustic and electric, bringing together elements of country, rock, blues and roots. His latest album Eleven Eleven marks a return to his rock upbringing, with Rolling Stone dubbing him “an underrecognized guitar hero”.
