Nimmo Brothers (Acoustic)

SATURDAY 20TH OCTOBER 2012
8.00pm
£15.00
Celebrating the end of the summer European tour in their hometown with this exclusive acoustic show, the brothers are back in the Cottier's almost a decade after their last performance in the theatre which lead to the release of a live acoustic album in 2003.
After 17 years of working together, and with both Stevie and Alan currently enjoying successful solo projects, once again The Nimmo Brothers are out to show the world that the term "taking it easy" simply doesn’t exist in the vocabulary of one of Scotland’s finest exports since the great Frankie Miller and a couple of slightly more famous brothers named Young!
With arguably their finest collection of songs to date, recorded in Austin, Texas, with some of Austin’s most respected and sought after musicians in the shape of Jamie Oldaker (Eric Clapton) on drums, Michael Ramos (Robert Plant) on Hammond organ, Bill Whitbeck (Robert Earl Keen) and Jimmy Pettit (Joe Ely Band) on bass, the guys are well and truly back with a brand new album appropriately entitled "Brother to Brother" showing yet again that when it comes to original blues rock, The Nimmo Brothers have nothing whatsoever to envy amongst their peers.
For this album "Brother to Brother" released earlier this year, Stevie and Alan have gone back to their roots with a collection of songs influenced by, in their own words, "everything we’ve ever listened to over the past 20 years" From the seventies blues rock sounds of Free and Thin Lizzy to the more modern hard rocking of Nickelback and Thunder, there’s something for every classic rock fan in this latest opus of fine, original material as well as a couple of handpicked covers as a "tip of the hat" to the writers they have respected, admired and learned from over the years.
This exclusive acoustic performance will feature songs from the new album stripped back as well as classic songs from their back catalogue and as anyone who has ever seen the brothers perform live will surely testify; when is it ever not exciting when these two musicians from Glasgow take to the stage in their own inimitable all or nothing fashion?
Quite simply and without doubt the benchmark in modern UK blues - disappointment is most definitely not an option!
